Working with Sint Vincentius to improve lives

Sint-Vincentius is a food bank that supports people in financial difficulty by providing essential packages. Until recently, their stock was tracked entirely on paper by volunteers—mostly elderly—making inventory management time-consuming and prone to error.

To address this, students developed a user-friendly online platform tailored to the needs of older volunteers. The platform helps manage stock levels, track when items need to be reordered, and organize additional services such as the “Little Vincent” project, where families with young children can receive a free toy during the child’s birthday month.

The system also keeps records of visitors, their family composition (e.g., if they have pets, they might receive extra pet food), and whether their eligibility certificate is still valid.

Since the original developers couldn’t host the platform, CodeForBelgium stepped in to maintain and host the system. This makes it easier for future volunteers and contributors to continue improving and expanding the platform.
